Mizoram poll body urges wider use of Voter Helpline App during roll revision
Election officials in Mizoram's Lunglei district encouraged greater use of the Voter Helpline App during the electoral roll revision.
Electoral Roll Observer Dr Lalhriatzuali Ralte, IAS, encouraged greater public awareness and wider use of the Voter Helpline App during a review of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026, in Lunglei, Mizoram, on 8 July 2026. She also serves as Secretary of the Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department and CEO of the Mizoram State Health Care Society.
A review meeting was held at the DC Conference Hall, chaired by Deputy District Election Officer Pi Zoramdini and attended by election officials, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, the District Media Nodal Officer, and representatives of political parties and civil society organisations. Election Officer Pi Lalhruaitluangi presented the status of the draft electoral roll and SIR 2026 progress.
Dr Ralte said her visit aimed to assess progress and convey observations to the Election Commission of India. Noting Lunglei’s size and its international border, she called for extra vigilance during the revision and appreciated close coordination between the district administration, political parties, Local and Village Councils, and NGOs.
She urged all stakeholders to ensure only eligible Indian citizens are included in the electoral roll, that all eligible persons aged 18 and above are enrolled, and that no eligible voter is excluded. She examined SIR-related records and discussed measures for an error-free roll.
The Draft Electoral Roll for SIR 2026, published on 4 July 2026, shows 98,808 electors across Lunglei’s six Assembly Constituencies — Lunglei North, Lunglei East, Lunglei West, Lunglei South, Thorang and West Tuipui — comprising 48,918 male and 49,890 female voters plus 478 service voters. Corrections and new enrolments can be submitted until 4 August 2026, with the final roll due 6 September 2026.
